Center for Hospice to Hold Bike and Walk Event

Published Friday, August 30, 2019

Center for Hospice Care (CHC) and the Hospice Foundation are excited to announce the 11th Annual Bike Michiana for Hospice and the 34th Annual Walk for Hospice, happening on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Both events will begin and end at CHC’s Mishawaka Campus and the neighboring Central Park.

Bike Michiana for Hospice will be a day filled with fun, friends, and food and feature four exciting routes touring the more beautiful parts of St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties. The 3-mile Family Route navigates the City of Mishawka and its picturesque parks. The 26-mile route goes into Elkhart County and has a Support and Guidance (SAG) stop at Jimtown Junior High School, hosted again this year by 523 Tap & Grill out of downtown Elkhart.

For the more avid cyclists, there is a choice of a 51-mile route and new this year – a Metric Century Route that travels into Goshen. Both routes stop at the Jimtown SAG as well as Pringle Park in Goshen hosted by Navarre Catering Group.

Following tradition, this ride also boasts an excellent post-event celebration at CHC’s Mishawaka Campus, where cyclists can enjoy a tasty menu provided by Yesterday’s Food and Spirits of Granger. Those 21 and over can enjoy beer from some of the area’s best breweries including Crooked Ewe Brewery, Heavenly Goat Brewing Co., and South Bend Brew Werks. Riders have the opportunity to memorialize a loved one with specialized bibs they can wear as well as participate with photos and messages in a longstanding walk tradition – the memory wall.

Walk for Hospice is celebrating its 34th year and will take place on the beautiful Mishawaka River Walk. Participants will once again have the opportunity to walk in honor or memory of a loved one and have a moment of remembrance as they drop flower petals into the St. Joseph River. This moment proves to be a favorite tradition of our returning walkers and a special moment of solace for our new participants. Through the walk, guests are treated to a snack station located in Kate’s Garden and then join the post-event celebration with the cyclists on CHC’s Mishawaka Campus.

Advance Registration is required for both events by Thursday, September 5th. There will be no day-of registration this year. To register go to or
