Earlier this morning, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced that he would not be seeking a third term as mayor once his second term reaches a conclusion at the end of 2019. As the most influential business organization in the region, the South Bend Regional Chamber values its relationship with the City of South Bend, as a key partner in business growth and expansion. “Integral to this is the relationship we’ve had with Mayor Pete,” said Jeff Rea, president and CEO of the Chamber. “We were the first organization to endorse Mayor Pete, back in 2011, during the Primary Election. And since then, he has been an important player in our economic development efforts, including his participation in our presentation to the state, where we were awarded $42 million in Regional Cities funding. We wish him the best as he pursues other interests, and thank him for his service to the City of South Bend and the region,” said Rea.
