On Friday, November 7, University Park Mall, a super-regional mall serving the surrounding areas of South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart as well as southern Michigan, announced the completion of its multimillion dollar renovation right in time for the holiday shopping season.

To celebrate the end of an exciting five-plus month renovation of the 1 million-square-foot mall, community members were invited for a brief ribbon cutting ceremony. Every part of the mall was touched with some kind of renovation. Shoppers will notice neutral paint colors and brand-new cream-colored tile laid throughout the mall. The food court was renovated with new furniture and fixtures to expand its seating capacity to more than 500. New carpet and soft seating was placed near each department store and new family bathrooms were constructed near the children’s play area.

Construction crews worked overnight to complete renovations. These renovations mark the first interior mall renovations since 1996.
