DEI 101 (Diversity Equity Inclusion) is a four-part webinar series focused on supporting and encouraging regional businesses as they work toward creating more inclusive environments. The South Bend Regional Chamber and other area chambers, are partnering with the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership who created the DEI 101 Inclusive Excellence Series. This virtual webinar series is targeted toward for-profit companies in the South Bend – Elkhart region that want to start a DEI program or elevate their current one. Budgets, industries and outcomes are all variable. We encourage companies with at least 25 employees to attend. This is a great fit for executives looking to bring a DEI program into their company or HR professionals charged with moving forward a DEI initiative.

SESSION ONE | AUGUST 19 | 8:00 AM

HOW TO START A DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION PROGRAM

This session will focus on the groundwork that is needed prior to launching such an initiative including understanding why you're doing this as a company, leadership conversations, gathering owned data (i.e. salaries, demographics, procurement spends, etc.), mapping out a plan with this information, and measuring success.

SESSION TWO | SEPTEMBER 2 | 8:00 AM

FROM THE TOP DOWN TO THE BOTTOM UP - PUTTING YOUR DEI PLAN INTO ACTION

Session two will cover the tactics needed to support your plan including forming internal committees, auditing materials, conducting a company culture pulse check, sponsorship programs, and identifying the resources your company has in order to implement - both financial and human capital.

SESSION THREE | SEPTEMBER 16 | 8:00 AM

TALKING TALENT - RECRUITING, RETAINING, AND BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR DIVERSE TALENT

During session three, we will be talking talent and taking a deep dive into case studies on recruiting, retaining, and supporting diverse talent. Digging into the nuances that exists in promotional pathways (golf course conversations, drinks, etc.) that are not often exposed to underrepresented individuals.

SESSION FOUR | SEPTEMBER 30 | 8:00 AM

WHAT'S YOUR ROLE? INDIVIDUAL AND REGIONAL ALLIES FOR INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE

In this final session, we will tie everything together to talk through how you, as an individual, can promote and support your colleagues. We will also discuss how we create a welcoming community, and how your company can highlight your commitment to inclusive excellence.
