Potential EV Battery Plant Site
- Ultium Cells is considering a 656-acre site that is commonly referred to as IEC Site 1. It is located generally at the northwest corner of State Road 2 and Larrison Boulevard in New Carlisle, IN. The property is zoned I-industrial. The parcel is part of a 2,900-acre Core Development Area located within the 7,200 acres Indiana Enterprise Center (IEC). New Carlisle is located approximately just west of South Bend, IN.

- Ultium estimates the building will be approximately 2.5 million square feet.
Shift Schedule
To allow for the required continuous manufacturing process, the facility is expected to operate a 2/24/4 schedule – two shifts, 24 hours, 4 crews. This schedule will eliminate weekend overtime and allow for workers to have four days off every two-weeks. The first shift will have most workers.
Traffic
Truck traffic will predominantly access the site from heavy-haul SR 2 to Larrison Blvd. St. Joseph County and INDOT are working with the Lochmueller Group to ensure safe vehicle entry to the facility. An estimated 130 inbound trucks, spread across both shifts, is expected daily to access SR 2 at Larrison.
